What the Church DOESN’T know…

August 20, 2009 at 2:14 pm (Uncategorized)

We talk ALOT in the church about the things we know for sure. (AND WE MUST!)  But we also need to remember some things we DON’T know yet.  I guess I think like this:  what we know gives us faith and trust.  What we don’t know gives us imagination.

For example, 20 years ago, who would have imagined using a projector and screen to display video/lyrics/ other creative elements in church.  (I hope someone IMAGINED it!)  And 10 years ago, who thought that churches would be claiming the interwebs for the Kingdom through online “church” experiences.  And what is  coming 10 years from now, that we don’t know yet? (But maybe we can imagine…)

How about leaders?  How many times do we think we can pick the next great leader?  How many times has someone we never imagined stepped up to be God’s leaders?  We just don’t know who the next great leaders are going to be. (But we can dream.)  Maybe they sat next to you Sunday morning.  Maybe you passed them on the street yesterday looking for their next fix.

I want to hear from you.  What does the Church not KNOW yet?

The church does not know yet what it will look like to show love to people. While today that might look like meeting some basic human needs in addition to some of their “felt needs,” who knows what needs may be meeting on the future? Because we do not know, we have to ready to adapt!
